Male cocktail anger

How can I help him not feel angry towards me and his mate?

Answer:

Hi,

If you have a bonded pair, then you should not be trying to handle the birds. Once birds form a pair bond, they no longer welcome other birds. You represent another flock member, and the male is torn. He may still want to be tame with you, but he doesn’t want you near his mate. Male cockatiels can get very confused in this type situation, and end up attacking you and the mate. I’m sorry to recommend that you stop trying to have him as a pet, or the mate could get injured or worse. You can try having them in separate cages, but it may be too late depending on how bonded they are.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,
