Minimum travel cage size

Hi!
I am traveling in August, and I am searching for a travel cage for my Cockatiel.

A friend will be keeping her for 15 days. Her normal cage is huge, so I can not use it as she will be at my friend’s home. Because of this, I need to purchase a new cage. What is the minimum sized travel cage for one Cockatiel?

Answer:

Hi Rylan,

I would recommend something around 18inches X 18inchesX20 – 24 inches tall. If you go much smaller she may break her tail feathers or damage the crest feathers on her head. A 16 inch cage would be the smallest I would recommend for two weeks. Also, cockatiels will sometimes panic at night, so if the cage is too small she could get injured if this happens. You friend should probably cover the cage with a lightweight towel or sheet to make your bird feels safe at night.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
