My bird can’t fly

I have an African grey parrot who can’t seem to fly we haven’t to him out for a few months now but now it’s been a week since he is coming out of the cage and he tries to fly but always ends up falling why is this happening?

Answer:

Hi Aliza,

If I understand the bird had been kept in a cage for months? This would cause loss of muscle, so it will take time to rebuild his muscles to be able to fly. Flying takes a lot of effort and the bird must be physically fit. If he had been flying and suddenly can’t, then it would more likely be a medical issue and he would need to be taken to an Avian Vet.

Take care,

Brenda
