My budgie’s egg

My budgie’s egg is too small will it hatch?

Answer:

Hi,

Usually an undersized egg will not be fertile. While even a healthy hen can have an odd small egg, it is more often caused by a hen that is too young, overbreeding or poor nutrition. Budgies should be at least 1.5 years before allowing them to breed, but 2 years old is better. Forming and laying eggs is very hard on a hen. You should remove the nest box and rest your pair for 6 months after each clutch, whether the eggs hatch or not. Your pair should be fed a nutritionally balanced diet such as pellets – a seed diet is not adequate for pet or breeding birds. Also offer dark, leafy greens, chopped veggies and an egg food. This can be a commercial dry egg food or you can cook an egg with the shell washed, crushed and cooked with the egg.
