Hi,
To clarify, all Cockatiels are the same species, regardless of color – there is only one species of Cockatiel. If you plan to breed these birds, they need to be at least 2 years old. If either bird is under 2, they should not be introduced yet. It could cause the female to lay eggs when she is still too young. As for getting along, you have to give them time. Not all birds are compatible. Also keep in mind that if these birds bond, they will no longer be tame. You can work with a male cockatiel’s behavior when he is hormonal or has gotten aggressive. Getting a female isn’t going to stop his behavior, and may just make him worse since this is hormone based. Also you referred to him as a pearl – has he lost all of his pearl markings? Only the females keep the pearls once they are between 1-2. The males lose the pearls when they molt the first time. If your bird is 2 or more, and still has pearls on his back, you have a female.
Thank you for asking Lafeber,
