My finch doesn’t like me

Everytime I put my hand in the cage she flies everywhere and she chirps and jumps around a lot too I’ve also had her for 3 days

Answer:

Hi Jenasis,

Three days isn’t long enough for any bird to feel settled into a new home. Finches especially need more time to feel safe. Finches are not a bird you should try to handle. In rare cases, if one is hand raised, it can be tame. But most finches are caged birds and do not want to be handled. They are prey animals and when your hand is near, they feel like a predator is trying to catch them and kill them. You should move slowly around the bird and never try to grab her or hold her. You can spend time near the cage talking quietly to her, and when you change the food and water, speak softly and calmly and keep your movements slow to avoid scaring her. You should not put your hands inside the cage unless that is the only way to give her food or water or clean the cage.
