My new male zebra

My new male zebra finch is not making any sound is this normal

Answer:

Hi Sandra,

He probably needs time to settle in and get comfortable in his new home. As long as he is eating and drinking and otherwise active, I wouldn’t worry about it. If he is an only bird, then he may not make a lot of sounds because birds vocalize to communicate and attract a mate. He should have a companion if he doesn’t. Another male would probably work out or a female. Do not give them a nest unless you want them to breed. Adult birds do not need a nest to sleep in and should not be given one.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
