My parakeet

Hi , I have a parakeet It’s being going on 6 months now. All of a sudden she is trying to get out of her cage it’s like she just lost it and she wants out. she keeps eating more than usual. Can you help me?

Answer:

Hi Tee,

Birds will try to get out of their cages. They can get bored and want to explore. Some learn to open the cage door and a clip or padlock is needed to keep them from getting out when you are not around to watch them. Do you handle your bird at all? Is the cage large enough? Dies she have toys to play with? She may be trying to nest, but since you only have one bird, it is not a good idea to give her a nest or anything to shred.
