Myna Bird

What does the Myna bird “Caw” mean?
Today is the first day the Myna I am fostering…it fell out of a tree nest in the evening and I took it home so the cats wouldn’t get it under the cars it was hiding under.

Answer:

Hi,

I would check to see if there is a wildlife expert who can help you. Any vocalization is a form of trying to communicate. I’ve never worked with Mynas and definitely not a wild one. If the bird is full feathered and learning to fly, then the parents were probably around teaching it and feeding it. Of course there is a danger from cats if the bird can’t be placed up high. Mynas need a very specialized diet and can develop iron storage disease in their liver if not fed correctly. You really need to try to find someone locally who can tell you what to feed it and how.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,
