Where should the nesting box be located in the cage , for budgies?

Hi,
Ideally attached to the outside of the cage as high as possible. But it depends on what type you bought. If the top lifts at the back, it is considered an outside of the cage mount. If the top opens just above the entry hole, then it is made for inside the cage. Again, they prefer as high as possible, and when the box is in the cage, it is hard to check on them or eggs or chicks without really disturbing the pair. Also never leave a box in or on the cage year round. The box is only for breeding and should be removed between each clutch, whether the eggs hatch or not, and the pair rested for about 6 months.
