No eggs

It’s more than a year now when I bought my love birds. But they are not laying eggs.l am not disturbing them giving them full privacy.

Answer:

Hi Farah,

Most lovebirds will breed when the days get longer and the weather gets warmer. If you are in a region where Spring is starting, then I would wait and see what happens this season. It is not easy to breed birds because there are so many factors that can go wrong.

Are the birds mating and acting like they are bonded? Or do they mainly just share a cage? A bonded pair will spend most of their time together. They will groom and feed each other and eventually start to mate. If you have not observed any of this, it is possible that you have two male birds. You can have DNA testing to determine their gender. I would recommend this if you are serious about breeding. If this is just for fun, then wait and see. Not all pairs will bond and raise chicks. They may be too young or simply not interested. All you can do is provide the right environment and hope for the best.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,
