Not being itself

My male canary stop whistling and singing. When interacting near it to encourage it to start singing, it tried to but the tune is of and not clear as it’s having a sore throat. Thought of bringing it to the vet. Please advise thank you

Answer:

Hi,

I would definitely take him to an Avian Vet. Canaries do not sing year round in general, but when you say he acts like he can’t sing, this could be a medical issue. One thing that comes to mind is air sac mites, which are very common in canaries and some species of finches. The Vet can check him out and prescribe medication if this is a medical issue. I hope he is ok!

Take care,

Brenda
