Old bird


I have a decade old Fischer’s lovebird male who had a healthy lifestyle and stable diet of grains and vegetables. He has this seizure like episodes that occasionally happens and his right leg stops working for few minutes. Then he seems to be fine when it’s over and his feet are perfectly working. I was wondering if the seizure thing is related to age. He is about ten years old and his activity level is less than my other lovebirds. How can I make him more comfortable in his last years?

Hi Lillium,

There are a lot of causes for seizures, and a bird can have these at any age. There are medications that can help, so I would take him to an Avian Vet to diagnose the problem and see what can be done. We do offer a senior bird diet that offers a lot of support for seniors, but it would not be a replacement for a Vet check and medication. You can read more about our senior bird berries here:
