Orange Weaver male

I keep periodically, hearing a strange noise coming from around his cage. I hear it as he is chirping. I can only describe it like a static type noise. Or a paper rustling. I have tried to pin point the noise and it’s not coming from the light nor the surge protector in the area. Could it be coming from his bum? I’m at a loss with this sound.

Answer:

Hi Barbara,

Weavers do make a variety of sounds. However, they can also be prone to air sac mites, which would cause wheezing. If he has not shown any signs of breathing hard, then most likely this is one of his natural calls.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
