Overfeeding

My female cocktaiel bird has overfed it’s chick and it looks very huge and looks like it will explode. Is this an serious issue?

Some parents do feed their chicks a lot, especially if they only have one or two. If you only feed seeds, then this can be a problem because it can cause an impaction of the crop. Parents with chicks should be fed a nutritionally balanced diet like pellets, along with leafy greens, veggies, fruits and a daily egg food. This can be a dry commercial egg food, or you can cook an egg with the shell washed, crushed and cooked with the egg to provide calcium and protein for the hen and chicks.
