Hi Lori,
They should get used to you being around, but having two birds together, and especially with as much freedom as they have, they are not going to be tame birds. If they are a male and female, make sure they are not related. By giving them so much freedom, they are very likely going to want to breed when they are old enough – actually before they are really old enough. Do not give them a nest or anything to sleep in – this will only encourage breeding and they are much too young. If you want to let them breed in the future, and only if they are not related, you can research breeding a decide if it is something you want to deal with. Meanwhile if they like to get into confined, dark spaces, block those off. And always supervise them when they are out – they should never be out unattended or when you are away from the house. They can get into a lot of trouble by chewing on wood or paint, electric cords or getting into other household hazards. They are curious and will go to a lot of effort to get into trouble. LOL When they are out, it’s OK to approach them, talk to them and show them you are not a threat.
Thank you for asking Lafeber,
Brenda
