Recovery of 1 year young Atlantic Canary

Hello! 2 days ago our avian put splint for my canary who has leg dislocation in the upper of her leg. Her toes before the splint and after were spread over and yesterday her toes went slightly down but I dont see motion on toes . Leg toes looks regular color no swelling or else. Splint is in place and she is resting, eating, drinking. Is this is normal to loose or not display motion of toes while it is healing? Also,I haven’t gave her bath and wondering do I need to clean her somehow or not ?

Answer:

Hi Luba,

Since she already being treated by a Vet, you need to consult the Vet about this. We would have no way of knowing what is normal without knowing more about the injury, and being able to see the bird. As far as the bath goes, no, I would not give her a bath. She could get chilled and get sick.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
