Sleeps all the time
My bird Sleeps all day long he lost a Friend I think he is Depressed ? What Can I do? I know He is not Sick Please Help.

Hi David,
Birds can definitely grieve for a lost mate or human. But this typically does not go on for a long time. Sleeping all the time is more likely a sign of something physically wrong with him. The stress of losing a mate could have caused something underlying to take over. I would take him to an Avian Vet to make sure he is healthy. If so, then all you can do is spend time with him, make sure he has plenty of toys, good food and some extra treats. Sometimes a mirror can help if the bird is not really tame with people. And unless he is old, you might consider getting another bird for a companion if he doesn’t like to be handled.
