Sounds that a macaw makes

I have a Greenwinged Macaw and he makes a low growling sound I think I know what it means but wanted to see more reasons for why they make that sound.

Answer:

Hi Amanda,

This is typically a sound of contentment. They might do it when eating, or grooming, or when being handled. Some do this while falling asleep.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
