Are they safe for a young Parakeet

Yes, these are perfectly safe to feed at any age. They are nutritionally balanced the same as a pellet, but they have not been ground up. Parakeets have been weaned to Nutri-Berries and thrived on the diet for more than 35 years. You are always going to read about ingredient or nutrition concerns from other bird owners, but they are trying to apply human nutrition to birds and you simply can’t do that. There are foods that are safe for humans that are toxic to birds, and there are foods that birds can eat that are not good for humans. Our digestive systems and nutritional needs are very different from birds.
