sun conure plastic

My sun conure is chewing away at plastic. How do I get him to stop?

Answer:

Hi Helen,

Parrots will naturally chew on everything. Plastic is fine as long as the bird isn’t swallowing any. Whatever he is chewing on, either remove it from the cage, or keep him away from it when he is out. Birds do not respond to punishment. You need to distract him with something he can chew on if this is something he is getting into when he is out of the cage.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
