Tempature

What is a good room temperature for a parakeet with a hot summer coming I’ll be running AC I don’t want him to get too cold

Answer:

Hi,

If you are comfortable, the bird will be fine. Birds are much more likely to get overheated than too cold. It’s best to avoid abrupt changes – don’t leave the AC off while you are gone and then turn it on when you get back. It’s actually more efficient to keep the AC on all the time during hot weather, because it takes longer and works harder to cool down a hot room or home. Also, make sure the bird isn’t under the vent or where he will get a draft from the AC. Otherwise, you can’t make it too cold with AC – you are more likely to get too cold before the bird does.
