temperature

I would like to take my budgies cages outside to clean them it only take a few minutes my deck faces south so it gets full sun in the afternoon but where I live is only gets to about 45 – 50 degrees outside would it be safe to bring them outside to just clean the paper out of the cages.

Answer:

Hi,

It shouldn’t be that hard to change papers – taking them outside isn’t a good idea at all. Many pet birds escape this way and fly away. If you are concerned about the mess, spread papers on the floor, first. When using papers in a cage, you should be changing them daily. You can put a week’s worth of papers in the cage and remove the top layer each day.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,
