Hi Sam,
You can’t go by what the temperature is in their natural habitat because wild birds are not only acclimated, but they know where to go to escape extreme heat or cold. Captive birds need more temperature control because they can’t go find a cooler or warmer place. Abrupt changes in temperature tend to cause more issues than letting a bird get used to a change gradually. They can handle cold better than extreme heat. Generally they can be kept as cool as about 50 degrees Fahrenheit, or as hot as around 80. When it gets hotter than 80, they tend to need to be misted. Humidity or moisture also plays a part – heat with a lot of humidity is harder on them than a dry heat, while cold, dry conditions are better for them than cold and damp.
Thank you for asking Lafeber,
Brenda
