White doves

Hi,
I have white doves. I bought a pair and they increased to 5. I didn’t buy a big cage and all lived there well as we keep them clean and well-fed. Problem is now they do lay eggs but don’t hatch or take care of them. What should i do?

Answer:

Hi Sharmeen,

If these are now the original pair and the offspring, then you should not let them have nests or raise chicks. You have no way to know which birds are mating, and you should never allow related birds to breed. They can stay together, but no breeding and no nests.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
