White doves

I have a pair and I can’t keep them together. Should I cover they’re cage at night? Also what kind of food is best for them?

Answer:

Hi Deborah,

Covering the cage is not necessary but it can make some birds feel more secure. Doves can eat pellets designed for parakeets, finches or canaries. These will provide more nutrition than just seed. Many doves will eat cooked brown rice with frozen mixed veggies – served warm, multi grain bread & dark leafy greens. If they nest, cooked eggs are also good for them.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
