Why are my birds fighting

I have two fischers lovebirds named jet and Orion and jet always seems to pick fights in the daytime with Orion, chasing him around the cage and not allowing him on the top and bottom perch. However at night they’ll sleep together and even feed each other. Is this something I should be worried about or something that’ll get better with time? If it is something to be concerned about what should I do to tackle jets behaviour?(They are both yet to be tame).

Answer:

Hi Adam,

Do you know if these birds are male and female? It may be that Jet wants to breed and Orion isn’t ready. If these birds are related, they should not be allowed to breed. And they should not be breeding if they are less than 2 years old. Some birds are simply not compatible. Do they have plenty of toys and a large cage? It’s not good for one bird to be chased all the time. It causes the bird a lot of stress. If they do not have toys, try adding some. If the chasing continues, then you probably need to split them up. If you plan to tame them, it will be almost impossible if they share a cage. So you would need to separate them anyway in order to work with them.
