Hi,
It takes a lot of patience to breed birds. A week of mating is nothing. Some birds may take weeks or months or years before they breed, and some birds never lay eggs or if they do, the eggs never hatch. First clutches will almost always fail. So even if she lays eggs this time, you are unlikely to end up with surviving chicks. The parents need to learn and often that means making mistakes that cause the eggs not to hatch or the chicks to die. You have to be able to deal with losses because they will happen. Keep giving them privacy, and she may lay eggs. The eggs may be fertile, they may incubate them, they may care for the chicks. Or the clutch may fail and that’s just the way things go. If they raise healthy chicks their first try, they are the exception and you will be very lucky. But if you can’t deal with the likely sad ending, then you should not try to breed your birds. I’m only saying this because you are already impatient and they have only been mating for a week or so. Keep in mind that some owners never see any live chicks. So be willing to accept whatever happens and enjoy the experience if things go well.
Good luck!
Brenda
