Wont eat vegetables

I can I get my Amazon parrot to eat more vegetables. He is eating just a couple kinds of fruit.

Answer:

Hi Colleen,

It can take a while for a bird to recognize new offerings as food. Try different ways of cutting up or grating the veggies and offer them raw or cooked. Amazons often like mushy foods and enjoy cooked yams, sweet potatoes, green beans, carrots, potatoes and broccoli. Corn on the cob is also a favorite. You can also try offering frozen mixed veggies served warm. If you put the veggies on top of his regular food, he will at least move the veggies to get to his food and this can lead to actually eating the veggies.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
