Zebra finches

Hi I’m looking to get a bigger cage for my finches found one but a review said her finches were able to escape the cage bar spacing is 1.5cm is that to big should I just stick to cages that are 1cm bar spacing please

Answer:

Hi Penny,

Some finches are very tiny and need ¼ inch bar spacing, while others can be safe with ½ inch spacing. Zebra finches should be fine with ½ inch bar spacing. The issue can sometimes be how well the cage is made, so you need to check corners and where the cage meets the tray to make sure there aren’t wider spaces. You should also avoid a cage with ornamental wiring around the top or bottom. Make sure the seller recommends the cage for finches.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,
