Zebra finches

How do I help prevent egg laying?

Answer:

Hi Paula,

They are not as likely to lay eggs without a nest. They do not need a nest or bed or anything to sleep in. A nest should only be provided if you want them to breed. Also prevent them from trying to nest in a food bowl. If you notice a hen always sitting in one, get a smaller cup she does not fit in. You can also limit her light to about 8-10 hours by covering the cage early each evening.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
