Bed for Parrot?

Do conures need a nest/hut/enclosed box to sleep properly, or are they perfectly okay to sleep on a perch?

Answer:

Hi Constanza,

Your conure is fine sleeping on a perch. In the wild he would sleep on a tree branch. Birds only need a nest when they are breeding. They do not use or keep a nest the rest of the time. If you give a pet bird something to use as a “bed”, the bird only sees it as a nest and it can cause unwanted egg laying and hormonal behavior.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
