Budgie nesting box

My female has always been real sweet. I put a nesting box in her cage and now she is biting me really bad. Is this appropriate or should I be Worried

Answer:

Hi,

Does your bird have a mate? If not, then she does not need a nest box. A nest box can encourage her to lay eggs, and there is no reason for a single bird to lay eggs. And it has also caused her behavior issue because she is being territorial. If she does have a mate, then now that you are trying to breed them, you can no longer handle the birds. Breeding birds can’t also be pets. The biting is normal because she is being territorial and protecting her nest box.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,
