Male mimics regurgitating

My male cockatiel and female have 4 eggs. My question is why is my male cockatiel mimicking regurgitación when he is eating , does this have to do with preparing for his eggs to hatch or what is your opinion. Thank you

Answer:

Hi,

Male cockatiels will help feed the chicks and will sometimes feed their mate. His hormones are stirred up and he’s probably ready to feed something. I wouldn’t worry about it as long as he is active and otherwise acting normally. It is important that you are offering a lot of foods. They should have a nutritionally balanced diet like pellets, leafy greens, chopped veggies and a small amount of fruit. You should also be offering egg food daily – this can be a commercial dry egg food or you can cook eggs with the shell washed, crushed and cooked with the egg.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
