Acting different

What does it mean when a goffin cockatoo lyies on it’s belly

Answer:

Hi Elizabeth,

Unless this is a bird that is trying to nest, it should not be lying down like that. A baby cockatoo might still lie down to sleep. But if this is an adult, I would be concerned that there is a serious health issue going on, and the bird needs to be seen by an Avian Vet as soon as possible. The only other scenario that comes to mind is if you were handling the bird and triggered a hormonal response, where the bird was wanting to mate with you.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
