Aggressive cockatiel suddenly nice

Hi! So I got my cockatiel when we was about six or ten years old and he’s been a little bit of a biter and wasn’t really a touchy bird but now all of the sudden he’s really calm and actually letting people pet him and he’s just acting off. I don’t know what’s wrong with him so please help me out

Answer:

Hi DJ,

When a wild bird suddenly becomes tame as your described, it often means he is sick and needs to be taken to an avian vet as soon as possible. Birds will try to hide signs of illness, so when they do act sick, they may have been sick for several days. That’s not to say a bird that bites can’t be tamed, but when it happens suddenly, as you said, it is very likely that he is sick and needs to be seen by a Vet.

Take care,

Brenda
