Budgie

U have answered harshly for my previous question because I know that you want me to take good care of my lovely budgies. Thanks for that..I have successfully removed the nest box.
Let me get into my question..Today my baby budgie fell down from a height of 2.5 feet to the floor. She behaved for a moment that she can’t even stand and fly.She acted so inactive. But after sometime she started walking. Is my budgie healthy? Actually I am very tensed. Please say me what had happened to it from falling? Will it cause any danger to her life?

Answer:

Hi there!

It sounds like your little girl was stunned for a short time. It’s basically like she got the wind knocked out of her. Since she did get back up and walk after a short time, she should be OK as long as she is acting normally again. Make sure she is eating well and is active. If she seems lethargic, lame, not eating or any other alarming symptoms, you should take her to the Vet.

Thank you for understanding my last reply. You are not alone in having a pair that won’t stop breeding. The saddest question we get here is often related to someone finding their parakeet, cockatiel or other small bird dead in the nest or nest box on eggs, and they say the bird has had clutches every three months for 2 -3 years. These birds are still technically a wild animal, and they behave on instinct, so without the right environmental changes, their systems never get the signal to stop breeding. Hopefully by removing their box and making the changes I discussed, your pair will take a much needed break. 🙂

Thanks for the update & hope your little one is doing well,

Brenda
