My female budgie has laid two eggs with today being egg number 3s day, but she keeps coming out the nest box to eat etc is this normal? She does spend a lot of time on the eggs with the male sitting at the entrance to the nest box or on top of.

She will come out to eat, drink and stretch her legs and wings. She should not stay out of the box for very long – maybe 15 minutes. If she stays out for hours or all night, the eggs will not hatch. But keep in mind that first clutches almost always fail. The parents are learning so just let them figure things out and hope they do better the next time.
