Calcium? – Dr. Lamb Webinar 3/17

how do we know when extra calcium is needed if a bird is acting hormonal? my grey is 19 years old and this is the first time she has started doing this.

Answer:

Hi Beverly,

Here is Dr. Lamb’s response:

To really know you would want a blood test done to check the levels of calcium. However, you could always just supplement a little extra calcium during hormone season for a short period. You can try to naturally supplement it as well with high calcium greens like dandelion, kale, spinach, and parsley added to the diet. Tofu can be a good calcium source as well and you could consider adding that a little as I have known MANY greys who love it.
