Has the lifespan been updated for Green Cheek Conures?

I saw that there are Senior Nutriberries as an offering now and I don’t know if my girls are 20-year birds. When I got them ten years ago, I was told 12-15 yrs. Is 20 still the expectation or has medicine and husbandry evolved yet again before we’ve updated the “old” information?

Answer:

Hi Kayla,

Parrot life spans are very hard to determine. Because they do live for a long time, accurate studies have never been done. Genetics, nutrition and overall care all play a part in a bird’s life span. That being said, the Senior bird Nutri-Berries can be fed at any life stage. The additional supplements are especially beneficial for seniors, but are good for a bird at any age.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
