what are the long term side effects of using the hormonl implants? Can they be used indefinitely?

Hi Debbie,
There are no formal studies to date, but generally the implants are intended as a seasonal or occasional need, and only after all other options have been exhausted. As with any treatment, there are risks although specifics are still not clear. In an extreme case where the bird is likely to die from excessive egg laying, then long term use of an implant is a safer choice than doing nothing.
