Lovebird sleeping position

My lovebird sleeps by lying on his stomach on the flat perch. However he also sleeps on his perch sometimes and then sometimes on tje flat perch laying down. Is it normal? Or is this an indication of any sickness

Answer:

Hi Sandali,

If he has always done this, and especially if he is young, this may be natural for him. Many lovebirds like to crawl under something to sleep. It’s probably related to how they sleep in the wild. They do not sleep in a nest, but they may sleep in heavy foliage, or a cavity of some sort. So this may make him feel more secure. But if this is new, then it might be an indication of a health issue and you should take him to an Avian Vet.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
