Male cockatiel nesting behavior

I have two male cockatiels, one of them (Coco) has been going into nesting spots and singing/screaming loudly in an angry manner.
He has been attacking anyone nearby, which wouldnt be a problem if he didnt keep nesting nearby us.
He keeps on attacking his brother too. We dont know what to do.

Will this behavior last forever?
How long will it last?
Is this healthy for him to do as a single male?

Answer:

Hi Talia,

The best thing to do is keep him out of nesting spots, even if it means confining him to the cage for now. It’s causing behavioral issues as well as a lot of stress for him. He could end up seriously injuring or killing your other bird. There can be medical issues related to a hormonal bird who doesn’t have a mate. But there can be the same issues if he had a mate. The problem is we provide the perfect breeding environment year round in our homes, and for some birds, this keeps them in a hormonal state. So don’t let him have nests or nesting spots, don’t let him shred paper. Dr. Lamb just covered this topic in the Friday webinar, so I’ll provide that link and highly recommend that you view it. This way you will better understand how to bring peace back to your house.
