My male cockatiel in perching on the nest box

Hello just wondering why my male cockatiel would be perching in the nest box

Answer:

Hi Caden,

If you have a female also and they are breeding right now, the male will spend time in and often on top of the nest box. If you only have one bird, he does not need a nest box and you need to take it away. If you have a pair and they are not interested in breeding right now, you also need to remove the box. Adult birds do not sleep in or use a nest except when they are actively breeding.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
