Parrot

Should I allow my new ring neck to get out of his cage on his own or is it better if I take him out myself. He isn’t tamed.

Answer:

Hi,

It takes time to try to tame a new bird. Forcing it out of the cage will make him not trust you. But if his wings aren’t clipped, letting him come out could cause him to hurt himself. You first need to get him to trust you, and maybe work to train him to step up on a stick. I’ll give you the links to our behavior and training pages for you to read. This will help you know what he is thinking and how you can work with him.
