Senior birds

I have a male parrolett and is 13 year this March. Some times he flys low and he does eat well. Will it work will for him and will he eat it. I gave him braccoli
for greens but he stoped eating it. I do mix my own bird seed for him and with
vit. and minerals.

Answer:

Hi Cindy,

I’ll give you the link to our bird food guide, because your little guy needs more nutrition as a senior. It sounds like he mostly eats seeds, and I know you said you add vitamins. The problem with this is he removes the hulls from the seed, so he doesn’t get much of the vitamins you add. We do have nutritionally balanced diets that contain whole, hulled seeds along with other nutrients to provide a nutritionally balanced diet. Our Nutri-Berries, Avi-Cakes and Pellet Berries would be better for him to eat than the loose seed mix. We also make a Senior Bird Nutri-Berries. Your little guy can live a long time, but you do need to improve his nutrition. If you try the Nutri-Berries, I recommend the Senior formula. You can begin by crumbling these in with his regular seeds, and then gradually increase the new food while reducing the old food. Most birds will convert to Nutri-Berries within a couple of weeks.
