Vitamin D

Hiii so my question is what to do when your bird has a lack of calcium and vit D ? I heard we can smash an egg and given it ! Can that work ?

Answer:

Hi Nabil,

It is best to let a Vet diagnose a deficiency, and then the Vet may administer or recommend a supplement. If you only suspect a deficiency, and then over supplement a bird, you can cause illness or death. You should only feed eggs to a hen that is set up for breeding and close to laying eggs. If you feed eggs too often, they are too high in certain things and can be harmful. Feeding eggs to a non-breeding female can cause her to start laying eggs. So always give supplements under a Vet’s advice and supervision.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,
