why?

hey i have 2 cockatiels and recently one of them which is
male is sitting in the food pot and protecting it from the other female and the male is also being very aggressive to the other why is this and how to stop this

Answer:

Hi,

He has decided he wants to nest and apparently the birds are not bonded as a breeding pair. The best thing to do is remove the food dish and replace it with some smaller cups. Otherwise the male could get too aggressive with the female and injure her. It is possible that he is actually a female. But males will sometimes act this way. It’s probably best not to ever try to breed this pair since he is exhibiting this behavior. When a male acts this way, he generally does the same thing when they have a nest box and they never successfully reproduce because of it.
