Heather Barron Photo credit: Marisa Marulli cropped squareHeather Barron has over 30 years of experience in wildlife health, rehabilitation, and clinical care. She serves as Chair of the Wildlife Veterinary Section for the Wildlife Disease Association, and is currently the Chief Science Officer and Veterinarian for Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno, Florida. Dr. Barron previously served as the Hospital Director of the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (C.R.O.W.) as well as the Chair of Veterinary Clinical Sciences and Professor of Small and Exotic Animal Medicine at St. Matthew’s University School of Veterinary Medicine in the Cayman Islands. Dr. Barron is a former Associate Editor of the Journal of Avian Medicine and Surgery (2002-2019) and the author of numerous publications. Dr. Barron is board certified in avian medicine, and she served as the 2010-2011 President of the Association of Avian Veterinarians. She is a graduate of the University of Georgia at Athens (UGA) College of Veterinary Medicine, where she also completed a residency in avian and exotic animal medicine. Heather remained at UGA for 10 years and was a tenured Associate Professor.
