Erik Hofmeister is Chair of the Department of Surgery and Professor of Anesthesia and Pain Management at Midwestern University. Erik earned his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Washington State University in 2000. He then completed a small animal medicine and surgery internship at Veterinary Medical & Surgical Group in Ventura, California, before completing a veterinary anesthesiology residency at The University of Georgia at Athens (UGA). He also earned a Master degree in public health education and promotion at UGA. Dr. Hofmeister then served as a faculty anesthesiologist at
The University of Georgia at Athens from 2004 – 2016. He is board certified through the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia and the European College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia. Dr. Hofmeister’s clinical interests include ophthalmologic anesthesia as well as exotic animal anesthesia.
